Stagecoach Trails Guest Ranch are not only our favorite customers, they’re some of our favorite people! This wonderful guest ranch in Yucca, Arizona has all the amenities a modern cowboy or cowgirl could want (including a massage parlor!). They also pride themselves in having a wide variety of horses to ride on their guided trail rides through the Arizona Desert. We have sold several gaited horses to them over the years, or we’ve directed them to gaited and non-gaited horses for sale that we believe would work for their ranch. We trust them completely to provide a wonderful home for the horses. Below are some of the horses we’ve sold to them.
Be sure to check out the Stagecoach Trails Guest Ranch website to schedule your visit to their wonderful facilities! |
Manhattan - “Manny” Manny was Andrea’s all around trail and show gelding, but his gait needed too much refinement to make him really successful in the show ring. Now at STGR, guests actually fight over who gets to ride him! This horse is precious to us, so we are so happy he’s in a place where he’s well loved and used to his full potential! |
Pushin For a Chance - “Magnum” Magnum (formerly known as “Push”) is a very experienced trail horse who was used on hunting trips and as a pack horse in the backwoods of Oregon. He is now one of STGR’s favorite string horses and a colorful addition to their gaited horse stock. |
“Comanche” Comanche (formerly known as “Spot”) just wasn’t what his owners were looking for—they wanted a horse that could handle riding in heavy traffic and Spot just didn’t fit the bill. He is another one who is a valued member of STGR’s gaited horse stock. |
“Blackjack” Blackjack, formerly named “Lincoln,” was brought back from Missouri by our friends at First Draft Farms. He is an extremely experienced horse and is beginner safe, and I thought he’d be great for STGR’s riding program. They came down and bought him, along with two other horses from STGR, Banjo and Hoss (see below)! Unfortunately, Blackjack was lost to colic in August 2008. He is sorely missed by everyone there, even us. |

“Cochise” Cochise (formerly known as “Memphis”) is one of STGR’s safest horses. He wins over the hearts of timid riders all the time. One family that came to the ranch had a young girl who was afraid of horses. After spending a few hours with Cochise, she was riding him by herself in the arena with a huge smile on her face. Cochise is worth his weight in gold to STGR! |

The Yellow Horse – “Sundance Kid” Sundance is STGR’s first Kentucky Mountain Horse! They jumped at the chance to buy him because he has lots of trail experience at such a young age. Sundance’s name comes from the owner’s brother’s former CB call name: The Sundance Kid. So now we have to find them a horse to name “Butch Cassidy!” |
Proud Mans Cherokee Chief - “Maverick” UPDATE! Maverick has been chosen by STGR’s owner as her own personal riding horse! Maverick (formerly known as “Cherokee”) belonged to Scott’s sister. She decided she didn’t want to keep him because she wanted an older horse with more experience, so he is now at a favorite among some of STGR’s regular guests. |

Whip’s Longshot - “Tucker” Tucker (formerly known as “Buck”) was a young woman’s first show and trail horse. He was a trail pleasure champion and was perfect for young girls to ride. He is perfect for novice and experienced riders alike and is one of STGR’s owners’ favorite mounts! |

The Buck Maker - “Starbuck” Starbuck (formerly “Buck”) is a big buckskin gelding with a true flat walk to die for! This guy is reliable and easy-going on the trail. He is also a big puppy dog—always at the gate to say hello to anyone who comes along. We are sure his friendly personality and easy-going nature is an asset to STGR! |
“Stetson” Actually, this horse was named Dude, but was changed because of the former Stetson to the left—STGR’s owner liked it so much that she “stole” it as they already had a horse named Dude! This Stetson works hard at STGR as another beginner safe horse. He is intelligent and an excellent trail horse, perfect for what STGR provides for their customers! |
“Hoss” Formerly known as “Yukon”, Hoss was bought by STGR from First Draft Farms. They came down to look at Blackjack (see above) and also took home Hoss and Banjo (also see above)! Hoss is a great size for some of their heavier riders and is the third draft cross at STGR. We’re excited to add First Draft Farms to STGR’s list of horse contacts! |
“Chief” Chief was a beginner safe horse who developed a habit of bucking under saddle when he didn’t feel like working. So, he has gone to STGR, and he hasn’t bucked ONCE since he went there. We believe he’s in a home that he is a lot happier with as he used to be a working ranch horse—he just didn’t seem happy as a backyard trail horse. He has proven to be beginner safe for their guests as well! |
“Banjo” This little fellow, formerly named “Sumo,” was bought by STGR from First Draft Farms. They came down to look at Blackjack (see right) and ended up going home with three horses rather than just one! Banjo is 13 hands, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in personality. He is BY FAR a favorite with the kids who visit STGR! |

Henery’s Blue Supreme - “Indigo” Selling Indigo was the hardest choice Andrea had to make. He was her everything horse, and with a phenomenal natural flat walk, was a consistent winner at shows. However, he didn’t like the show ring and developed ulcers. With his calm nature and enjoyment of the trail, Andrea knew he’d be perfect for STGR. We are happy knowing he’s in a guaranteed safe and caring home! |

“Cisco” Cisco (formerly known as “Whiskey”) was a 5-year-old stallion that hadn't been bred. Though very well-behaved and easy going, he wasn’t trained under saddle yet. His owner unfortunately wasn't able to keep him due to financial problems, so we recommended him to STGR. They have taken him and gelded him and will start his training under saddle soon. We are excited to follow his progress at STGR! |
“Ranger” Ranger, formerly “Stetson,” is wonderful with children and is great for beginners, even when he was only four years old. We owned Ranger until he was about 5 years old. We sold him to a friend of Andrea’s father, who in turn sold him to another person. She had to downsize, and when Andrea found out, she immediately contacted the owner AND STGR! Ranger is a great match for STGR’s riding program! |
