Jack Daniel’s Harvest Moon - “Moon”  SOLD!

Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse

16 years old, 14.3 hands, born 1993

All about Cochise and Moon (Note: Andrea rode these horses personally on August 6):  SOLD!

Cochise is a TWH, sorrel sabino (strawberry roan) with a blaze, stockings, and flaxen mane and tail.  For those of you who recognize the names, he is by Here's Lookin At Ya Kid (Chief) out of Delite's Queenly Aire (Mariah).  Cochise is 11 years old, every bit of 15.3 hands and very stocky and sturdy.  He has been owned by the same owners since he was three years old, and they bought him from his breeder.  He is an excellent trail horse with miles upon miles of experience.  Camping, difficult trails, you name it.  He has an easy stepping pace gait, but with work could certainly perform a real flat walk.  He will go the speed of the other horses and does not take off at a fast gait all the time--will walk when asked.  I was able to ride him with a loose rein, both direct and neck rein.  Travels in the front, middle or rear of the lineup, and will switch around if needed.  Goes out alone or with other horses.  He is very sweet and has excellent ground manners, loads himself into the trailer.  I classify him as an advanced beginner horse on up, as anyone with confidence can ride this horse.  Not recommended for timid riders, but would be a great first horse for a confident person who wants to own their own.  He also would be great for an intermediate to advanced rider who wants to take him further or who wants just an easy ride on the trails.

Moon is a 16 year old KMSH and a very flashy sorrel sabino with wild patterns.  He is 14.3 but is very stocky and strong.  Moon has a lot of the same characteristics as Cochise.  Excellent ground manners, goes the speed of the other horses and is not too fast, best for an advanced beginner on up.  Again, another great first horse for a confident rider or an easy-going trail horse.  He can carry a heavy rider with no problems.  His gait is more of a stepping pace but it is very smooth.  Pretty much everything I said about Cochise applies to Moon.

The owners are asking $3500 each, and I believe these are extremely reasonable prices for seasoned trail horses.  Both horses are completely UTD on shots, farrier work, deworming, and all the necessities.  They are in good health and are obviously well taken care of.  To give you background info, the owners are in their 60s and can no longer ride due to back problems (yes, even on a gaited horse).  They have owned both of these horses for eight years, and both horses were bought directly from the breeders, so they have not been passed around.  They would love to see them go to a husband/wife team, but they certainly do not have to stay together.  The owners are looking for the right home for these boys, so the prices are negotiable, especially if bought together.
